Product Description
This is a Hasegawa KYUSHU J7W1 18-SHI INTERCEPTOR FIGHTER SHINDEN 1/72 scale plastic model kit.
Scale : 1:72
Product number : D20 Code : 4967834014503
The Shinden made its first flight on August 3, 1945, at the end of World War II and the Pacific War,
at Moshida Airfield in Kyushu.
This aircraft has a very unusual shape, with
the main wings moved to the rear
and a small wing, usually called a horizontal stabilizer, placed in front.
The engine is located at the rear of the aircraft and
the propeller is attached facing backwards.
This method, called the Ente wing, can improve the accuracy of the gun by mounting it in the center of the fuselage
because there is no propeller on the nose . It also makes the aircraft's lines smoother, allowing it to fly at high speeds.
The Shinden was designed to combat long-range bombers such as the B-29 , but
the war ended on August 15
and it was never used.
Data:
Crew: 1 pilot
Overall width (wingspan): 11.11m
Overall length (to rear end of propeller spinner): 9.76m
Overall height (from ground to tip of vertical tail): 3.92m
Engine: Ha-43 Type 42 air-cooled engine
Engine output: 2,030 horsepower
Maximum speed: 750km/h at an altitude of 8,700m
Armament: 4 x 30mm cannons
(The speed was measured at the altitude where the air pressure and temperature were most efficient for the Shinden during flight .
This altitude varies depending on the aircraft.
Since the time between the Shinden's first flight and the end of the war was short,
the maximum speed is the planned speed.)
