During the the Maserati World Series of 2012 starting in Round 2 held at Portimao, the Belgian driver Renaud Kuppens made his name known. The Portimao series consists of three races: two sprints and one endurance race. In the Maserati Trofeo, Kuppens placed 4th and 5th in the sprints, but in the more challenging endurance, Kuppens took first driving solo. He proved to be the “most consistent competitor,” at this point and eventually being honored with the European Title and going on the win the Maserati Trofeo World Series World Title for continuously placing each round of the Series.
