The second generation Aristo, the S16 series, was introduced in August 1997 with a full model change of the previous S14 series. The S16 series has a newly designed platform, which has an ideal weight distribution of front 53: rear 47, and the same 2JZ-GTE engine as the Supra has been converted to VVT-i to strengthen the fame of the fastest sedan in Japan.
